The thing with Afton is that "He always come back". Lore wise, it fit pretty well in my opinion. While SL is Spoopy with Sillyness, SB is Silly with spoopyness. We are talking about giant metal furries trying to kill you. Ever since Fnaf SL, the game started to accept its sillyness. UCN is a condensation of what FNAF was, and it' a good place to stop. They chose the later and I believe it to be the right choice. Steel Wool had two choices : Either give the community what they had already played, or make something new. Keeping thing super spooky would just make the games. No longer are we scared by overused jumpscares, and only the good, unsettling unease remains. I am not talking about SB itself no, but the games themselves, as the community grew up, the horror simply faded away. I agree that SB was rushed and a buggy mess, and we should criticize them for that.īut you have to face something : FNAF isn't scary anymore. A game with a AAA budget and 80 GB file size having to be compared to a mobile game to be better? That's just sad. Special Delivery is worse if we're counting it as a main line game but that's not really a fair comparison. Monty Golf was fine but for a game this long in the making, I shouldn't have to settle for one singular alright minigame in a series known for it's lore intensive minigames. Roxy Raceway with a whole go-kart track and a go-kart cutscene- can't drive on it. And as for the games? Bonnie Bowling with a fully rendered bowling alley- can't play it. Almost all of those arcade machines are just unplayable decorations. There's arcade machines and games everywhere. It hit it's mark on trying to feel like a neon, bright mall. I was in a Discord call with my friend and we came up with a better idea for the story of the game and how to fit it into pre-existing lore in 15 minutes compared to the years of development Security Breach took.Įdit: The endoskeleton areas of the game were fun and the theming of Security Breach was great. Security Breach is essentially a completely different game with little to no similarities to it's much better, much more highly rated, much more successful predecessors with FNaF characters and branding stuffed into it.Īnd what's more, it completely shattered the lore that Pizzeria Simulator and Help Wanted set up. It had some really cool character designs like DJ Music Man and Sun/Moon, but they completely fumbled it and ruined what could've been one of the best FNaF games. Steelwool could've done something really great with the Glamrocks and the Pizzaplex, but what did we get? A buggy, cobbled together mess of a game that lags on the beefiest of gaming computers with a $40 price tag slapped on it. They humanized the animatronics to such a degree where I can't find them scary or endearing, I can't even hate them because I can't look at them through the lens that I look at other FNaF characters with. It's just another free roam horror game like Poppy Playtime or Bendy and the Ink Machine. They took the simplistic gameplay that made the franchise such a success in the past, completely overcomplicated it, and in doing that somehow made it completely bland.
